WHO THE HECK IS
NICHOLAS J. JOHNSON
Growing up in the circus, Nicholas J. Johnson was on stage before his sixth birthday.
By 12, he was a professional magician, working his magic around Australia.
By 18, he was an award-winning science communicator, winning the ACT Science Prize and working with Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre, and CSIRO.
Today, Nicholas has combined his passion for trickery with his love of science as an educator, entertainer, and expert in deception.
Nicholas has created educational shows for ScienceWorks, Questacon, re-science, National Science Week, Festival of Light, Australian Science Festival, Science Gallery, Market of the Mind, and Edinburgh Science Festival.

His shows have won awards including Best Comedy at Melbourne Magic Festival, the Moosehead Award, the Candlelight Productions Artistic Excellence Prize, and several over awards with weird names.
Nicholas has collaborated on projects with Monash University, RMIT, Swinburne University, CSIRO, RiAUS, Royal Society of Australia and the Centre of Excellence for Integrative Brain Function.

As an expert on scams and deception he's worked with BBC's The Real Hustle, TODAY, The Project, Sunrise, A Current Affair, ABC Statewide Drive, Wentworth, ABC 774 and a bunch more. For a decade he was the "science guy" on Channel Nine's Kids WB.
Nicholas is also a best-selling author of three novels: Chasing The Ace, Fast & Loose, and Tricky Nick.
His debut novel, Chasing The Ace was nominated for best debut crime fiction at the Ned Kelly Awards.
His latest, Tricky Nick was nominated for the Aurealis Award for Children.
